Article

The difference between content that is 'pushed' and content that is'pulled'.

Any message delivered to a mobile handset is considered as content and the difference between that which is 'pushed' and that which is 'pulled' lies in the way it has been requested by a recipient.

  1. Pushed Content
If a recipient belongs to a mailing list, for example, then any message that is broadcasted out to him/her as part of that subscription is considered to have been 'pushed' by the content provider.
  2. Pulled Content
If, on the other hand, a recipient uses his/her mobile handset to request content (i.e. through an MO SMS) then the content which is returned in response to the request is considered to have been 'pulled' by the mobile user.
